The Impact of Covid on Mental Well-Being

The social restrictions brought about by Covid are exacting an insidious toll on our energy systems.

Just take one example: overseas holidays.

Overseas trips inject a serum of excitement into our bloodstream: not just for the two weeks we are on holiday but also for the four weeks of anticipation (before we fly) and the four weeks of reminiscing (after we return).

Think of it – that’s ten weeks of being in a heightened energy state. The impact is massive – both psychologically and emotionally.

What happens when all that energy and excitement is withdrawn from our lives for 2-3 years, all at the same time?

Meditate on that and you begin to understand something of the challenge that Covid presents to our mental well-being and hence to our relationships.

A first-world problem to be sure, but a big problem nonetheless.

The solution? Tread more softly. Be gentle. Be kind.
