Dream Boldly, But Stay Grounded

Notes to Young Leaders | 28 June 2024

To everything there is a price.

The price of illusion is disillusion – and that’s not a price worth paying.

Illusions can be rewarding to entertain, while they last. But when they eventually burst, they will cause you pain.

And when the disillusion comes, blame no one except yourself – you played with fire, you got burned.

By all means be a dreamer – strive for a better world, have compassion for all – but don’t airbrush reality. See the world as it is. Weed out illusions about yourself and others.

If you want to have your head in the sky, you must keep your feet on the ground.

And that means you’ll have to stretch yourself. Get ready to stretch.
