Why Humility Trumps Ego

A note to young leaders.

Confidence is a thing of beauty, quintessential to the vocation of leadership. The most confident people don’t have big egos.

Where you see ego, know that it almost always spells insecurity and fear. It’s humility, not pride, that is the ultimate expression of self-confidence.

Humility is being equally at ease with being champion or cheerleader – acknowledging the potential greatness in you as well as the potential greatness in others.

No prizes then for guessing which of humility or pride is better suited to great leadership.
