You Cannot Be Australian and an Anti-semite
What happened on Bondi beach is not “yet another terrorist attack.”
We can’t just shake our heads, offer our condolences and go back to watching test cricket.
The 103 bullets fired on Sunday are a clarion call to the nation.
Anti-semitism is not a problem to be managed. It’s an evil to be eradicated.
Hate does not abate when coddled. Try to mollify it, and you embolden it instead.
Bigotry needs to be confronted, condemned and expelled from public life.
Just as a human being is not merely flesh and bone – neither is a country merely tanks and terrain.
A country is a culture and a set of values – or else it is an empty vessel, a clanging cymbal.
The Australian values of freedom, mateship and a “fair go for all” cannot coexist with anti-semitism.
You cannot be an Australian AND an anti-semite. You cannot have a foot in both camps. You have to choose one or the other.
And if you’re unwilling to state your position plainly and without qualification – you have no place in this great country of ours.
You do not belong here. You are not welcome.
You should either leave Australia or be forcibly removed.
