Be Kind to Your Boss — They’re Carrying Their Own Heavy Load Too

Don’t forget to be kind (also) to your boss.

Once – as one of his many philosophical asides – the late John Caldon shared this insight with me as we walked the streets of Sydney to our next business meeting:

“Most people assume, Adam, that the more senior you become, the easier your job gets. But the opposite is true.

Never imagine your boss has it easy – because if they’re any good, they’ll be working at their limit too, just as you are.”

Like weightlifters, we should all be lifting burdens that are at our limit or just above it. We should all be trying to better our best.

So even those more accomplished than you, especially them – they may need your support sometimes.
