Bored in a Meeting? That’s a Red Flag
If you or anyone else is getting bored in a meeting, it is a sure sign that:
- the meeting is too long and therefore allowing people to ramble on;
- the meeting is being held too frequently and so people are repeating themselves;
- the meeting is poorly run with a boiler plate agenda or no agenda; and/or
- the meeting is not relevant to your role and you shouldn’t be attending this meeting.
Compress the meeting, hold less frequently, demand a clear agenda or ask to be excused.
To tolerate boring meetings is to disrespect your own time – and since time is the stuff of life – to disrespect yourself.
And if you wish to be successful – to disrespect yourself is the cardinal sin.
