Deadline-Driven: Building Teams That Do Whatever It Takes

Notes to Young Leaders | 26 February 2024

Is your team “doing its best” (whatever that means) or “doing whatever it takes”?

The difference between a good team and a great team is very often a “sense of urgency”.

And how can you tell which type of team you are? Deadlines.

Good teams set deadlines. Great teams meet them.

Great teams love deadlines. They use them all the time and absolutely hate to miss them. And they treat internal deadlines every bit as seriously as they do external deadlines.

Such teams are bound for glory. They hold themselves accountable and don’t hide behind excuses. They are as rare as hen’s teeth.

Time kills deals – and missed deadlines are a contagious disease.
