Leadership Symphony: Conducting Teams for Harmonious Success

Lessons from my father.

Sonatas are great, symphonies are better.

Dad would often say: “Think of life and business as a symphony. You’ve got to know what instrument you are playing, when you should play it and when you should be silent.”

Your role as leader is much like that of a conductor. You have to assemble a team of talented people with different superpowers (instruments), persuade them to cooperate towards a clear, written vision (musical score), and conduct a symphony worth listening to.

The universe has been designed with a bias towards cooperation.

The option is always there for you to “go it alone” but the rewards – both monetary and emotional – are always with those who choose to combine their superpowers harmoniously with others.
