Leonardo da Vinci’s Secret: Awaken Your Senses to Spark Curiosity
Leonardo Da Vinci is arguably the greatest polymath the world has ever known.
Da Vinci kept extensive journal notes, of which 28,000 pages have survived to this day.
His areas of interest ranged from science and invention, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, paleontology, and cartography.
And what advice does the genius of Tuscany have for us, normal mortals? To be awake.
“The average human looks without seeing, listens without hearing, touches without feeling, eats without tasting, moves without physical awareness, inhales without awareness of odour, and talks without thinking.”
So much is happening all around us, but we just don’t notice it. And unless we notice, we can’t be curious. And without curiosity, there can be no discovery.
Look, listen, taste, touch, smell – but with keen awareness – and you will forever be fascinated by what you discover.
Mindfulness and self-awareness are the portals of curiosity. Cultivate them.
