Live Urgently, Serve Joyfully

A note to young leaders.

Stop acting like you’re immortal. Life is brief and you’re running out of time.

Here’s something I wrote in my journal when I was in my early twenties:

“Some see in the brevity of life a cause for levity; others a cause for gravity; still others a cause for urgency.

Who is right?

None and all.

Transcend levity into joy; gravity into service – then merge the two and you have ‘joyful service’.

Another word for joyful service is ‘love’ – and love is always urgent.”

There’s no time to waste. Live urgently, serve joyfully.
