The Paradox of Joyful Living
A note to young leaders.
I try to live my life according to two paradoxical principles. (It’s not easy, so I often fail.)
First, I live as if today was my last day on Earth. I own nothing. Free, generous, passionate – casting all burdens.
Second, I live today as if I’m going to live forever. I own everything. Fearless, generous, compassionate – caring for all.
Fearless freedom. In other words – joy.
(Note: “generous” occurs twice, so it’s doubly important.)
