What Spills Reveals What Fills
A note to young people.
You’re holding a cup of coffee in your hand and someone bumps into you, spilling coffee everywhere. Why did you spill coffee?
Most people would say it’s because someone bumped into you.
But that’s the reason your cup was disturbed.
The reason you spilled coffee is because that’s what was in the cup. If you had tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
So when life bumps into you, rattles and shakes you – and it will – what will spill out of you?
Will it be bitterness, self-pity, blame? Or will it be patience, generosity, grace?
Pay attention to what spills out. It reveals what’s brewing within.
What are you pouring into your cup today?
