Pressure is a Privilege

Here’s a lesson my father instilled in me when I was a teenager.

What sets a leader apart is not intelligence or hard work – leaders are rarely the most intelligent or hardest working members of their team.

What sets a leader apart is their ability to handle pressure. Most people actively avoid pressure. Leadership is a vocation that attracts and magnifies it.

The best leaders thrive under pressure.

Pressure is a privilege. It’s a sure sign that you are playing for high stakes. Dwell on that thought for a minute and you may just begin to relish the opportunity.
