Who Understands You Best? The Answer May Surprise You

A note to young leaders.

My father once posed this question to me in my early twenties: “Which person do you think understands you the best?”

I only needed five seconds: “You.”

“Remember this: the person who understands you best, is also the person who loves you most.”

I nodded.

My father continued: “And do you know who understands you second best?”

I paused.

“Your arch enemy – if you’re lucky enough to have one.”
