Balance, Don’t Compromise: A Leader’s Guide to True Harmony
A note to young leaders. Balance, don’t compromise.
Balance is harmonious counterpoint. Compromise is mediocrity.
The yin-yang symbol is black and white, interwoven – not intermingled.
When you work, work. When you relax, relax. Don’t work and think about relaxing. Or relax and think about working.
Likewise, when mediating between your preference and your partner’s preference, seek balance, not compromise.
Wear black shoes on occasion and white shoes on others. That’s the wisdom of balance.
Don’t wear grey shoes, or worse still, wear one black shoe and one white. You’ll look either bland or ridiculous. That’s the folly of compromise.
Compromise is an easy and slippery slope.
Balance demands steadfastness of principle. It’s an effort well-worth expending.
