Destiny Finds the Prepared
A note to young leaders.
Life, we are told, is random and unpredictable. Popular culture is replete with references to the “butterfly effect” and to “sliding doors”.
You miss a train, you meet a stranger, you injure your leg – and your life assumes a totally different direction.
But is that true?
What’s more true is this – your destiny will chase after you, more than once. The question is, will it find you prepared?
Here’s what Winston Churchill had to say about that:
“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.”
The more assiduously you prepare, the more powerfully your destiny will exert itself on happenstance.
It’s not that butterfly wings and sliding doors cease to exist – but rather that they find you waiting watchfully to pounce.
Destiny is when preparation meets opportunity.
It’s only a matter of time … if you prepare.
