Reluctant Leaders: Embracing Leadership When Called to Serve
A note to young leaders.
Some are born to lead, some learn leadership and some have leadership thrust upon them.
It is to this latter category – the reluctant leader – that the greatest leaders belong.
These leaders accept the role because the mission requires them to – not for fame or favour or fortune.
Think of the giants of the 20th Century: Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa and Nelson Mandela. All were reluctant leaders.
So if you are being called to lead but find yourself uneasy with the limelight or influence, you’re very likely the best person for the job.
