The Power of Speaking Your Thoughts Aloud

Notes to Young Leaders | 15 April 2024

A note to young leaders.

We think more clearly when we think aloud.

This is why we all need a trusted companion who is a good listener.

The legendary fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, had Dr Watson. “You have a grand gift for silence, Watson. It makes you quite invaluable as a companion.”

People who listen intently and sympathetically provide us with a canvass to reason our way to the solutions within us.

Don’t trap your thoughts in your mind. Your mind is a terrible place to store your thoughts.

Find a Watson and speak your dreams and dilemmas to them. A nod, a grin or a quizzical look is often all you need to unlock your next inspiration.
