Grief Is the Proof That Love Once Lived
A note to young leaders.
A good friend of mine recently lost his dog after it was run over by a car. He is understandably devastated.
Grief gets a bad rap. We treat it as an intruder, a thief of joy.
But grief is simply the flip side of love. Only those who have loved deeply will ever grieve deeply.
In that sense, grief is the proof of love.
And proofs are valuable messengers.
Messengers make for wonderful visitors but terrible permanent residents.
When it comes to grief – let it in, let it speak, then let it go.
