Why You Must Participate in Politics
A note to young leaders.
We always get the leaders we deserve.
Tolerate mediocrity, and mediocrity is what you’ll get. Demand excellence, and excellence will follow.
A nation of sheep begets a government of wolves.
The penalty for refusing to participate in politics is that you will end up being governed by your inferiors – and you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.
And don’t let your reluctance deter you – indeed, your reluctance is a good sign.
As Plato put it: “The State in which the rulers are most reluctant to govern is always the best and most quietly governed – and the State in which they are most eager, the worst.”
Get involved in politics. It’s your moral and patriotic duty.
