Why Great Leaders Are Never Just Cheerleaders
A note to young leaders.
You’ll never hear a leader say: “Hey, I’m just one person. There’s not much I can do to change the situation.”
A negative leader is an oxymoron.
Leaders believe they have extraordinary potential, and are destined to achieve extraordinary things.
And since the object of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers – it follows that a leader must also believe in the extraordinary potential of their team members.
So never allow yourself to be led or managed by someone who doesn’t believe in your extraordinary potential.
I don’t mean someone who thinks you’re already great, that’s a cheerleader.
I mean someone who sees the potential in you for far greater things and is prepared to stretch you to your limits.
