Cherish the Struggle and Grow Through It
To those still toiling for their first big breakthrough.
The world celebrates victories, moments of triumph, the crossing of the finish line.
But looking back on my career, the sweetest memories are of the early years. The sweat and the struggle. The dream and the uncertainty. The many lonely “Rocky steps” moments – staying back late at the office to update a pitch document or printing hard copies of a proposal as a back-up in case the projector fails.
There’s a joy and a fulfilment in the struggle to succeed that you’ll never experience again, once you’ve made your first big breakthrough.
Cherish the struggle. Consider it pure joy, even as you’re going through it.
To struggle is to grow, and to grow is the only game in town.
